Anyone know wheres some place to buy black a4 paper? like staples, office depot, walmart? not online
-
If your not buying online the only black paper you will find is going to be card stock. Which I have gotten at Walmart. It still works but requires it to be cut further to reduce the stiffness of it being thicker paper, in short it makes it easier to fold. Hope this helps, any questions just ask.
-
ya i got some cardtock paper from michaels too. but its really hard to fold, so how do i cut it further to reduce the stiffness? D:
-
Okay, well normally you fold the unit in half first before you fold down each side down. Well you cut the piece in half, then when you go to fold your pieces you obviously leave out this first step and just start by folding down each side…you continue as normal then with folding the unit.
-
ohhh O: so you can basically save paper? O_O 😀
-
Exactly! This technique also works well for smaller pieces that you are making because without the one fold the entire pieces is also thinner. But, for your purposes you will get double the amount out of a sheet of paper than you normally would.
-
i see! you know, i went to michaels today to see what kind of varnish i should get. any tips on that? because some of my paper rips apart easily D;
-
Unfortunately I do not, I have never gone the route of varnish.
-
oh. how does your creation stay together?
-
First, sorry for the long delay in response – busy busy busy! Anywho, I complete my creations and then I place glue in all the gaps between the pieces (I use clear tacky glue that will not affect the quality of the paper). This creates a sturdy piece, I have a candy dish that has a handle that will hold up to 5 pounds (although I haven’t tested…[Read more]

Or PVA glue works just as well, it dries clear so it doesnt affect the origami.

I get my black paper at Staples. It comes in a pack of 10 sheets for about $2.50

yes, I think varnish 😀
Don’t spray on it… well you can try, but I don’t know if it works.. I apply my varnish (for paitings) with a brush ^^ most important is that it is wattery ^^
