Looks awesome. It must have taken a few thousand pieces, right?
-
Thanks for the complement!!! You are very talented yourself!!!!!
-
Thank you for thinking so. =D
-
-
-
about 5,000 or so. It took me a few months to complete.
-
wish i had a better camera.
-

wat size did you use
-
It worked it from the tail to the head. It starts out with 1.5cm x 3. The bulk of the project uses 2.5cm x 5 and 3cm x 6. If I recall correctly the rows (the bulk of the project) use a total of 18 units. half 2.5 x 5 and the other half 3 x 6. you use the smaller unit on the inside curve and the large outside. this has the effect of making it…[Read more]
-
…..? bulk? inside? um i dont get it
-
By bulk I mean most of the project. The whole serpent is nothing more than a tube. it start out narrow and then gradually increases in diameter. If you want the tube to bend (say your using 18 units per row) on the side(direction) you want the tube to bend you use 9 of the smaller unit on that side of the tube and 9 larger unit on the opposite…[Read more]

hey are there any inverse pieces? any tips you can give me. averything is appreciated. thanks a lot and its beautiful
-
The yellow on the underside and most of the head is inverted. everything else is normal so as to try to simulate scales.
-
-
thanks a lot. do you know approx how many pieces?
-
252 – 1.5 x 3cn green, 126 2 x 4cm green, 406 2 x 4cm yellow,
126 2 x 4cm purple, 3300 2.5 x 5cm green, 440 2.5 x 5cm yellow,
2794 3 x 6cm green, 837 3 x 6cm yellow-
that does not include gold used for horn or purple along the spine. I’ll have to count those next time I get a chance. I kept a inventory list of all the pieces I folded as I went along.
-
no dont worry about it. you have helped me enough. thanks a lot and i love your work. keep the magic going
-
-
-
-
fantastic David ,like all your work.
-
Thanks lollaa. This is one of my favorite works.
-
-
it just wont curve. im 14 rows in and nothing. any idea why?
-
are you using two sized pieces in each row. the rows us 9 -2.5x5cm and 9 – 3x6cm. as you progress it should curve in the direction of the smaller size. If not, try 9 – 2x4cm and 9- 3x6cm. that should curve it a little sharper. be patient it will curve.
-
i was using 9 by 4.5 and 7.5 by 3.75. same ration as the ones you were using but if size is the thing maybe it will take me longer since my pieces are much larger
-
That’s probably why. stick with it.
-
mr foos i need some advice i think im losing my love at 3d origami wat should i do
-
You need to go with your heart and do what it tells you to do.

Sir looking at this pic, i want to make a serpent like yours , but want to make a lamp shade too, not able to decide. My be i will first go for the lamp shade, i dont dare to make something like this so early. Btw from the comments above what i have understood is when we need a curve we will have to use smaller units for the inside part. Is it…[Read more]
-
that correct. As you add pieces you put the smaller ones on the side you want to curve (direction).
-
-
Nice work! How did you make him to turn,I don’t understand, from comments from above you said that if you want to curve you have to put smaller pieces?
-
each row uses to different sizes. as you put them together they will curve naturally. you put the smaller pieces on the inside of the direction you want it to curve

Hello David,
I’m blown away…..
Is it possible and/or are you willing to teach us how to make one? Pleeeease 🙂
I admire all your work. You are a true talent.
I can only dream of making such nice pieces unless you would help me…..-
The first thing I would recommend is to try any many different pieces and techniques from various books and diagrams to get a feel for the different ways to put pieces together. I’ve made hundreds of different projects and was surprised any the little bits of information I picked up along the way.
I would love to show everyone how I come up with…[Read more]

wow.. .this one is so awesome!
Coming from you, Jack, I take it as a huge compliment Thank you for the compliments and this fantastic website !!!!
These are all amazing David. What you need next is a nice good SLR camera 🙂
Though, speaking from experience, photos look nicer if shot with natural light, the flash from the cameras are often too sharp and harsh for Origami.
I agree. I was thinking of taking them outdoors and snapping a few shots, only it’s been raining off and on for the last couple of days. not good for the paper.
I’m thinking of making something big like this, but I don’t know what, maybe you can help me?What should I do(try to do,because it would be my first time)?
Just jump right in and give it a try. I always study pictures of the subject to get an idea of the shapes involved. Don’t be afraid to try. I left a lot of comments on this model about sizes and number of pieces as well as some of the techniques I used to do it. Read over them when you can. If you still have question, just ask. I’m always happy to help.
No,I don’t want to make your models although they’re awesome I want to do something myself, I just don’t know what… 😀
I recommend picking something you really love. It will hold your interest longer.
Thanks for all your help 🙂
