Fantastic work. are the roses origami also?

      • Profile picture of John Reedy

Yes, the roses are origami as well. The base and calyx are folded separately then attached to a wire stem with 2 leaves. Normally the leaves are also origami but I had to make a large amount since it was for a wedding so they are artificial.

I did a google search for 3D Origami – upon searching 100’s of pages I found this one (and many others a long the way).

Yeah that’s how I first started getting content for the site. I was just like you… looking EVERYWHERE for something 3d origami… I spent hours searching the internet… then I thought there must be others just like me. So I decided to just post all the links I found. Then I decided just to make the site community based so we can support and…[Read more]

First, sorry for the long delay in response – busy busy busy! Anywho, I complete my creations and then I place glue in all the gaps between the pieces (I use clear tacky glue that will not affect the quality of the paper). This creates a sturdy piece, I have a candy dish that has a handle that will hold up to 5 pounds (although I haven’t tested…[Read more]

Or PVA glue works just as well, it dries clear so it doesnt affect the origami.

I do but unfortunately with my busy schedule there is nothing on it. It’s also do to lack of ever having anything on hand that’s actually made. I tend to finish projects and sell them before I even get to take pictures (but I’m working to change that). Currently doing pieces for a wedding, I’ll have pictures when its done!

Exactly! This technique also works well for smaller pieces that you are making because without the one fold the entire pieces is also thinner. But, for your purposes you will get double the amount out of a sheet of paper than you normally would.

Okay, well normally you fold the unit in half first before you fold down each side down. Well you cut the piece in half, then when you go to fold your pieces you obviously leave out this first step and just start by folding down each side…you continue as normal then with folding the unit.

I use 20 and 24 Ib paper, they are the easiest to work with because of their thickness. For the longevity of my pieces of have recenlty began buying archival quality paper so they will not fade over time. I use a standard 8 1/2 X 11 sheet. I currently only buy online to get the quality paper I want (the archival) the sites I use are…[Read more]

If your not buying online the only black paper you will find is going to be card stock. Which I have gotten at Walmart. It still works but requires it to be cut further to reduce the stiffness of it being thicker paper, in short it makes it easier to fold. Hope this helps, any questions just ask.
